This trip took place last year in the beginning of June 2016.
The first three weeks I spent at Jomtien. Great days, a lot of fun times in the bars in that area, all over Pattaya, and of course on Walking Street. After about 3 weeks I flew to Chiang Mai with a friend, John. There were two reasons I went to Chiang Mai, and eventually Chiang Rai: I wanted to see the place, and because of Jiji.
Jiji is from Chiang Rai originally and contacted me on Thai Friendly in February 2016. We started talking and our relationship grew to the point we would talk for at least an hour, almost every day, while I would drive to work. She worked as a tour guide all over Thailand, based in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. She speaks excellent English. She helped me plan a holiday for us in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, and after the 3 weeks in Jomtien and Pattaya, I met Jiji at the McDonalds outside the night bazaar in Chiang Mai. It was a bit awkward at first, meeting in person. John can testify to that, but we had a few drinks, and we both just fell into the same conversation mode we had been in for the past 3 months through my daily work commute (the time difference made this convenient as it was around 10 PM at her place when we would talk).
Let me take a step back, and admit that we had already shared a lot of our lives with each other. She was building her business, and building a farm in the back of her house in Chiang Rai. She wanted to teach a Thai cooking class, through goods produced on her farm. She had chickens, load of trees and vegetables planted, and from the photos to speak, the place was really large. She is the most ambitious Thai woman I had ever met. Totally present in the moment, hardly played on her phone when we were together, educated, intelligent, owned one business already, and was interesting to talk with. I shared my life with her, sending her pictures of whatever I was doing, talked about my work life, and we got to know each other very well. She had no kids, was not married, single lady at the age of 34.
Enough of the back story, let’s go back to the evening at McDonalds.
After McDonalds, we hit a night market where her sister runs and owns a stand. I had met her sister via video chat several times and it was cool to meet her in person. We ate, drank, and had a good time. At about 11 PM or maybe closer to midnight, the market closed, and I was tired from the day of travels. I think John had gone hunting. Honestly, I can’t remember. For this trip, I had booked us a very nice resort, right in the jungle of Chiang Rai for 5 days, staring after a 4 day stay in Chiang Mai. At the time, I wasn’t sure where she planned on sleeping. Was she staying with me for the duration? Would she stay at her sister’s place before we head up to Chiang Rai? Would she stay at her house in Chiang Rai, or at the resort?
Well that was answered quickly, first night together she was in full boom boom the farang mode. She went at me like we were in high school, all over again. I don’t think anyone has ever stuck their tongue further down my throat! She wanted to have sex, but I wanted to take it slow. (yes, really!) Going into this meetup, I wasn’t sure if we were going to have sex at all. Jiji isn’t all that sexually attractive when compared to all the other ladies out there, she is ok, but plain. The reason I liked her was because she was kind, easy to talk to, and we got along well. Over the next 4 days or so we hit all the tourist spots, and did a bunch of sightseeing. It was great having her by my side. She made everything so easy. We were becoming even closer and our relationship was growing. We even met another mongerer, Kenny, for a few drinks at the beer bars in Chiang Mai. Jiji was totally cool about it, and we all got along great.
Things were going well until the fourth night in Chiang Mai. We had a little drunken argument about something, she was in the wrong, and I called her out on it. She didn’t like that, and pouted on the way back to the hotel. We were laying in bed, she was crying, saying she was sorry, and then she told me I could hit her when I’m upset with her. That was a first for me, I know that is common in Thailand but I don’t hit people, it would really take a horrible situation for me to fight or hit anyone, especially women. Honestly, I have hardly even yelled at anyone when I’m upset, I have found it doesn’t solve anything, and this is what I told her. We talked about the issue and it was resolved, for the life of me I can’t remember what the argument was about, which only confirms it was only a minor thing not worth the drama it caused.
The next day we pick up our bus tickets at 7-11 and take a very comfortable and beautiful ride to Chiang Rai. We pick up her car at the hotel where she runs her business from, only a two-minute walk from the bus station. We hit a market, but they enforce some sort of alcohol rules, forcing us to hand the beer back, and go to a different place. We finally arrive at the resort, where we were one of 3 couples there. It was a beautiful jungle resort in Chiang Rai. However, it was really fucking loud!! The birds, bugs and other wildlife, run the show out there. We stayed for 5 nights. Some days we would hang out at the pool, or go for a hike, or even go into town, which was 20 minutes away. By the time we checked out, I was ready for civilization again.
To be continued…
